Birth Control Trust of the Galton Institute

The object of the Trust is the alleviation of poverty by providing practical birth control advice.  In recent years the Trust has fulfilled this object by providing financial support for projects run by other organisations, particularly Marie Stopes International.

Past and Current Projects

The grants made to Marie Stopes International since 1993 are listed below and full reports on the projects have been published in the Institute's Newsletter.

Years Location Amount
1993/96 Indonesia £75,000 over 3 years
1997/99 Vietnam £75,000 over 3 years
2000/02 India £40,000 over 2 years
2002/07 Ethiopia £50,000 over 5 years

Future Projects

The Trust’s current programme of support for MSI’s project in Ethiopia comes to an end in 2007.  The Trust is looking to support a further project or projects, in the UK or elsewhere, and invites expressions of interest.  The total funding available is likely to be in the region of £9,000 per annum.

An expression of interest should be no more than 500 words long and should be submitted by 30 July 2009. The Trustees will then invite some or all of those who have expressed interest to make a formal proposal for work that the Trust could support.
