|
14th June |

Committees of Council conducted their business by post and telephone. Two new members were elected to the Institute during the year and there were three losses by death which included Dr Victor Serebriakoff, the former world president of MENSA, and Dr Charles Goodhart, a long serving member of Council.
The Institute’s annual conference on “A Century of Mendelism” was held at the Linnean Society on 21st September. It was well attended and the Galton Lecture 2000 was given by Robert Resta, President of the American Society of Genetic Counsellors. A Galton Institute book containing all but one of the papers from the conference, plus a paper presented at the 1999 conference, has just been printed and copies should be with members shortly.
The Newsletter appeared four times during the year and plans are in hand to publish it on the Internet.
