A Fellow of the Institute, Dr Ian Macadam, has published a small book, “Race Against Cancer”, in which he suggests that cancers are caused more by our genes than the environment or diet. He has previously published “Save our Dogs” suggesting that cancers could be bred out of dogs. Of course dog breeding can be controlled while human breeding is effectively random. However, as a first step, he suggests that those diagnosed as having cancer should refrain from further reproduction. Both books are available from the author at 1 Lorne Campbell Court, Cambeltown, Kintyre, Argyll, PA28 6SZ, Scotland, UK. “Race Against Cancer” £3.50; “Save Our Dogs” £2.95.
