At her death in 1958 Marie Stopes bequeathed to the Eugenics Society the copyright in all her sociological and scientific works including her best known book Married Love. The Institute has recently agreed terms with Victor Gollancz for the republication of this classic work (with generous royalties and a substantial advance on publication accruing to the Institute) as a mass-market paperback. The Institute’s Treasurer, Dr John Peel, has written an introduction to the book which is being launched in conjunction with a Channel 4 broadcast on Marie Stopes scheduled for 9.00pm on Thursday 7 December 1995. A review of Married Love will appear in a later issue of the Newsletter.
