On May 1-3, 2008, The Center for Genetic Research Ethics and Law at Case Western Reserve University will be hosting the first international congress for the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) of Human Genomics researchers. The theme is the challenge of translating research, both across cultures and disciplines, and into practical recommendations for scientists and policy-makers. Click here for a flyer and here for the call for abstracts. |
| ActionBioscience.org | ActionBioscience.org, is an education resource of the American Institute of Biological Sciences, aiming to promote literacy in the biosciences. The site provides peer-reviewed articles on bioscience issues. The site also provides educators with lessons and other resources to enhance bioscience teaching. Selected articles are translated into Spanish |

| British Society for Population Studies | The BSPS's main objectives are to further the scientific study of biological, economic, historical, medical, social and other disciplines connected with human populations and to contribute to the public awareness of them. The Galton Institute provides financial support for BSPS's conferences. |
| Professor J. M. Thoday, Geneticist | Professor J. M. Thoday has been both Professor of Genetics at Cambridge and a member of the Council of the Galton Institute. He has recently set up this site for reminiscences on matters genetical. |

| The Genetics Society | The change of name from The Genetical Society was a cause of regret to some. |
| Gene Expression | A "BLOG" site with topics of interest - including answers to a set of 10 questions put to AWF Edwards, a fellow and former Vice President of the Galton Institute |
| Future Human Evolution | An interesting site with some interesting material maintained by Professor John Glad, author of a book also called "Future Human Evolution" - there will be an offer of free copies for members of the Institute in the September 2007 issue of the Newsletter |
| The Descent of Man | Site connected with a radio series on neo-Darwinism, originally broadcast in 2000. You can listen to all the programmes on the site, including interviews with our President, Steve Jones. |
| Nuffield Council on Bioethics | The web site has some interesting discussion papers available for downloading or reading on-line, including one on Genetics and Human Behaviour: the Ethical Context that includes a reasonably balanced discussion of eugenic issues. |
| Institute of Biology | The Galton Institute is affiliated to the Institute of Biology. There is some interesting information on the site but overall it has a decidedly unfinished feel, with quite a lot of links that don't actually do anything. |
| Interact Worldwide | Formerly (and rather more informatively) known as Population Concern, Interact Worldwide promotes access to quality sexual and reproductive health services. |

| European Bioethical Research | A site in need of some refurbishment, but with some interesting links. |
| Future Generations | Interesting site on eugenics, although perhaps a little too focused on group differences in IQ |
| For the World to Live, Must the West and Far East Die? | An interesting article by Daniel Vining, a member of the Institute, reflecting on the fact that affluent societies tend to reproduce at below replacement rate, dooming themselves to eventual extinction. |
| The Pioneer Fund | The Pioneer Fund exists to advance the scientific study of human heredity and human differences, mainly by sponsoring relevant research. Its predominant focus on intelligence, especially differences between the mean IQs of different racial groups, has been a source of much controversy. Accordingly much of the site is devoted to a rebuttal of largely unfair criticism rather than a useful exposition of scientific findings. The Fund's surprise that the "altruism gene", the "IQ gene" the "crime gene" have not yet been found will itself be a surprise to many; and may lead some to wonder whether its expectations are entirely realistic. |
| London School of Psychology | Photos of senior figures of the London School of Psychology (which traces its intellectual ancestry back to Sir Francis Galton) can be found at http://www.individualdifferences.info/LondonPhotos.html and helpful notes on the life and (often controversial) work of most of them are given in the internet encyclopaedia, Wikipedia. Most of them addressed The Galton Institute at one time or anoxther and several have given Galton Lectures. A full account of the life and work of the best-known London School figure of recent times (at least in Britain), the late Professor Hans Eysenck, Ph.D., D.Sc., is at http://www.crispian.demon.co.uk/eysenckob.htm. |
